The Playful Wind
2 posters
The Playful Wind
The Playful Wind.
It starts quietly.
Resting from a day basked in the warmth of the Summer sun.
Gentle as a sigh from full warm Summer lips.
Barely rippling the glowing green leaves.
Slowly it wakes
Rising again into life
Catching the evening scent of meadow flowers,
Wafting.
Stiring waves across the fields of mellow golden corn.
<>
Autumn finds it growing in strength.
Sweping shoals of brightly coloured leaves,
Taunted by the unseen object of their pursuit,
Back into abandoned gardens freshly cleared.
Filling wellingtons,
Empty and abandoned,
With leaves,
Like discarded playthings,
Plucked from the yielding trees.
Pulling the fires smoke into a confusion of gossamers.
Then throwing it back,
Moaning,
Down the chimney.
<>
The Winter gales
Tugging relentlessly at the very last leaf on the tree.
Blocking drains and ponds.
Delighting in mischief, mayhem, and mockery,
Knocking two hours into one.
Catching the downpour
And throwing hail into the frozen panes
Closed firm against the icy blast.
Stealing the umbrellas from the church porch
And swinging them high into the air.
Carrying them along for miles,
Juggling with their colourful patterns,
Riding high over the bare black tree tops,
Before loosing interest and casting them aside,
Contemptuously.
<>
Spring finds the dying wind weakening,
Breathing sad in my ear.
Making a virtue of necessity.
Resting while life stirs again.
Sleeping while others wake.

Re: The Playful Wind
Well! Without the greenhouses, it needs work! lol
I think... I can picture this because I relate to it, yet I took notice of the
descriptive words that give it more depth... giving me even more to work
with to imagine it all.

Re: The Playful Wind
I was reminded that this was languishing in the drawer when one of our neighbours large garden parasols blew down the street. A messenger was despatched to bring it to their attention. They in turn despatched a seeker to retrieve said item and after a short tussle disarmed it, and took it back home. The seeker was duly rewarded with a pat on the head, and re admitted, after being reminded to remove his shoes and hat. No doubt he was fed as a reward for his efforts. The things us men have to do ..........
(I would have used an English flag blowing in the breeze, but there isn't one. You'll just have to use your imagination)
