Re: What's for breakfast?
Cereal (low sodium) topped with peaches and banana.. And of course.. my cup of tea. I would like to trade with you Breezey. Yours looks better. But what's the sodium content!! lol
I just have the same most days as I know what is in it. I would like to be naughty for just one day and have what you are having..

Re: What's for breakfast?
After a week of utter gluttony Im having to cut back. A small bowl of cereal and a coffee, nothing exciting. Im hoping to shed a little of my excess weight.
Earlier this week was a temporary indulgence. Two glasses of orange juice and a couple of pieces of toast. Porridge. Beans, 2 fried eggs, 2 sausages, beans, fried bred if the hotel kitchen didnt hide it, and beans! As much coffee as possible before the other guests emptied the pot, or we had to dash to catch our coach.
Ive a few pounds to go, like about 8!

Sodium content.. not sure....
I make my biscuits from scratch, fry the eggs with no salt or pepper or oil... a block of cheese I slice myself and sausage I make into patties... not sure what the food industry does to the food before I get it.... could be almost anything, from what I understand...

Re: What's for breakfast?
You can't beat making your own food Breezey. You know what goes into it then and can make wise choices that affect your health. I am missing our vegie patch and orchard greatly. And strangely.. even missing the cows.. buying red meat is so expensive compared to growing your own and once again.. not knowing how old it is or what they have pumped into it!!! Fresh is best. back...

Re: What's for breakfast?
Lorry, start looking for someone who butchers his own cows, chickens, etc...
Doing that, you can buy a portion for a better price and if you know the person at all... you'll even have a better idea what the animals are fed.
Meat is becoming really expensive and I remind others that meat isn't THE meal.. only part of it.
I am also making more meals with less meat and some meals with no meat.

Re: What's for breakfast?
The scandal may not have reached you. There was a panic over here when horsemeat was detected in some supermarket burgers. The more they looked the more they found, it wasnt a test the food standards agency normally checked. They withdrew so many different products that burgers (and some other products) became rare. It wasnt just beef, but chicken. It wasnt the fact that people had been eating horsemeat (not that I particularly like horse, too chewey), but that the contents were labeled incorrecty. Same with kibabs, chicken products, and sausages. When they checked into it it had been going on for years. Then it extended to the way the meat was killed with kosher and halal. Meat processors over in the EU had been fiddling the records.
I was miffed because I didnt see why they couldnt have given it away to us poor pensioners!

Re: What's for breakfast?
I heard about that it got people over here yelling that our meat was probably the same.
As for why they don't give it to poor people... that would be just too... decent, helpful and humane and we couldn't WASTE it.
Yep... that's why there are people starving in this world.
