What IS online bullying and harassment?

Do you think there are different levels of bullying and harassment?
Before we get started, this honestly is not about me.
When does bullying become stalking and harassment and what can anyone really DO about it? It's not like daily life where you really aren't anonymous.

Some think that if you try to get a certain point across to much ,and they disagree with it you may be bullying. I had a couple of contacts not like material i sent and ask me to stop sending that type. If you would still keep sending that may be bullying. They can put a block on so they no longer receive mail from you. Could be harassment,too if you keep it up.

I'm talking sites, messages, multiple accounts, etc... aiming at or targeting a single person on a continuous basis and in many different ways... and for a very extended period of time.

Seemed there was plenty of that kind of thing going on over at "that other site" (dare I mention the name "Yahoo?") ... That's one of the reasons I left and haven't been back there. Life is short ... no time for such nonsense!

Jack, you nailed it. One user is being continuously harassed through messages, questions, answers and more. It is definitely more of a stalking issue with a lot of hate wrapped around it.

I think you're exactly right ... there's alot of hate behind some of that sort of thing. Obviously, people with "unresolved issues." Maybe Yahoo should consider having a full-time psychiatric consultant. LOL

... Well, there's always an "OFF" switch on the computer, I guess. I'm not resorting to that though. Luckily, I've only had one run-in with a person on a forum who didn't like one of my posts. I did my best to "make peace" and then just stopped making any comments. Sometimes, silence is the best answer. I've come to the conclusion that some people just live to cause drama and conflict. They thrive on it. I feel NO need to feed their appetite.

Jack... I think this internet business sure isn't all it's cracked up to be! I still look at all those internet people just like I would my own front door... if I don't know them in some way, shape or form.. they ain't entering!

I think there are all kinds of bullying going on on the internet.
Some of it is ridiculous; some of it is very dangerous.
Children and adolescents take "things" seriously (if you recall)
and EVERYthing is the end of the world.
I have no patience whatsoever with bullies. None. They are my biggest
"pet peeve" - and I hesitate to say it that way for fear of trivializing it.
Bullies... do enormous damage.
IMO...They need to be dealt with - immediately and severely.

(Did I mention I reeeeally don't like bullies ?!?)

I have to wonder about kids today, in that respect. Why is everything taken SO seriously? Guess I was taught never to let such things be a matter of "life or death." The internet has become the modern playground. And people are very brave, sitting behind a monitor and keyboard. Kids today need lessons in "internet defense" I guess. If nothing else ... turn the *(#@ machine OFF!IMO...They need to be dealt with - immediately and severely.

Yeah ... they can dish it out, but it's a whole other situation when THEY are the target of bullying. Then, all of a sudden, they become the poor victims that everyone should feel sorry for and come to their defense. Sorry, NO SALE! What goes around, comes around.
