Do you hear a lot of sirens on a daily basis?
Police, ambulance, fire trucks, etc...

Re: Do you hear a lot of sirens on a daily basis?
Police and ambulance ... not so much out here. But we HAVE been hearing the fire-trucks, almost every single day. With this heat, they are keeping a close eye on wildfires around here. The fire danger is HIGH, and people are being warned against any outside burning of ANY kind. There are severe penalties and fines for that. You can get thrown in jail for a while, and a rather large fine.

Yes, we do hear many ambulances here, since we are less than 1/4 mile from a hospital which is a trauma center. And sometimes med-evac helicopters as well.

Re: Do you hear a lot of sirens on a daily basis?
For me it is EXACTLY! what Tater said.
We live about 5 blocks from one hospital with a helipad on it's roof and about 3
miles from another hospital - also with e-vac-copters. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Combined with the police helicopters, we get a lot ! of overhead *wap-wap-wap*
from time to time.
We can tell when it's been a BIG *oops* cuz then we also get the news channels
'copters too. Yay.
(In so far as I know ALL the hospitals here have their own med-e-vac 'copters.)
- Not to mention the occasional fire truck and the odd cop car. We liver in the city
- so not much in the way of wild fires thank God. We too have penalties that you'd think!
would deter firebugs. They don't seem to though...
(I haaaate! the cops here... ! they are a bunch-a-thugs!) - but I'd rather hear them
than either a fire truck or an ambulance.
Either of those makes me sad. };>

Here, we hear a lot of all kinds of sirens. I really don't like hearing any of them. I don't think it's something I'll ever get use to.

Re: Do you hear a lot of sirens on a daily basis?
Ja'aj Thanks! Just a few minutes ago the Life Flight went over my house. On my first run on the squad was to a friends home and he was dead when we got there. That was a hard one to take.. Will never forget his young son running out of the house screaming and crying.

Sneaky,
You're welcome - I'm so sorry that happened to you!
I have had only positive experiences with EMTS -
unlike some with Doctors and R.N.s.

Sneaky, that's awful. I don't know how you work in a job like that for very long. I did hospital work (pharmacy) for quite a number of years, and I saw "some stuff" for sure. Of course, I know, one has to turn-off the emotional side sometimes, and do what needs to be done, efficiently and with professionalism ... But over time, it wears on you. Or at least, it did for ME. Too many times, those memories stay with you for a very long time. It makes you appreciate life and how precious it really IS!

Jack,
Some of my FAVORITE! people are Pharmacists!
Seriously. We had the same one FOR YEARS! (literally)
and he protected us many times from our "doctors."
I really miss him.
Now, with the shortage - anyone who graduates
(D-average counts) will be hired somewhere, it seems. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I now own the current PDR - and I USE IT.
My DOCTOR! gave me my first one - how sad is that?

Yeah, we know ALL about "the good stuff." (kidding ... "pharmacy humor")

Scary sometimes, isn't it? I know!

I hear that! People should be cautious. It amazes me, when people can have such blind faith in doctors. After all, they are human, too. And they DO make mistakes.
I now own the current PDR - and I USE IT.
Being an "informed consumer" is the best defense.
Those PDRs can come-in very handy sometimes.
Of course, now we have the net, and you can look-up just about ANYTHING.
My DOCTOR! gave me my first one - how sad is that?

Honey-Bunny... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I! know about the "good stuff"...
and NOT from my Pharmacist.
(It was our 5th-grade neighbor...)
Kidding ! ^ but it's kinda sad, all the same.
Most grade school kids know more about it than I do.
