Do we all want the same things?

Men, women, blacks, whites, unions, etc...
If a group of people want something, fight for it and get it, does that mean every last one wanted it?
Is it possible some don't want what was fought for, gotten and others just assume every last one wanted?

Any thoughts?

i guess it's a case of majority rules, you will NEVER get everybody in a group to agree on everything. Neutral

I never assume much of anything about very much... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Always and never are traps.
I think people who assume that, or 'choose to think' something
like that (which is probably more like it) are damned fools if
they really beleive it.
If there are more than 2 people in on much of anything -
and no matter what "everyone" says... someone disagrees.
Maybe only slightly; not enough to make it an issue and
sometimes enough to vote "NO" emphatically -
but someone disagrees.
"Close only counts in horseshoes" probably comes up
somewhere in that discussion.
"Majority rules" is the basic way it works here
(EXCEPT [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] for the GOP) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - They will draaaag something up
- AGAIN - . . . over and over and over ! - until someone shoots them
-all - DEAD - [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - but NO.

Whether the margin is a simple majority or a specific percentage to meet;
someone always looses and sometimes it is a very large minority.
(And SOMETIMES... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ... The Supreme Court ! takes the decision
AWAY from the voters... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
"Unions", by the way, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] don't all see anything exactly the
same way, either - EVER. That's why there is a vote.

Oh - ! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

One of the all-time-BEST lines I've ever ! heard is
in the movie "Peyton Place" ...
(It is likely the ONLY one -in that entire movie [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
Anyway [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - this small New England town held Town Meetings.
That was the way civic matters were decided.
(Cheaper than ballots - It works, too ... I hear... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
In the last scene of the movie the citizens of Peyton Place hold
yet another ! Town Meeting -to settle the most outRAGEous... nonsense...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - ANYway, the town finally! gets over itself; there is a vote;
the entire ROOM! says, "AYE"; (It's a late 1950's-early 1960s movie! Whadaya want from me?[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Next comes, "Opposed...?" and by God ! from the back of the room
someone says, " Nay."
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The (?? - IDK, now; the 'person running the meeting'?)
says, "What's the matter, Amos?" (John;"Fred; ... someone)
AND AMOS SAYS : "Nuthin'; I just didn't want it to be unanimous. . .
'Tain't AMERICAN." [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It is PERFECT! ! because it's TRUE and it was a great ! little
tension-breaker ; in the Town Hall and in that theater.
I think everyone walked out of that movie laughing.
And, MR. SPOCK said it very well too; (Well...? Of COURSE! he did)
"The needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few, or the one."
And that ! ^ will teach you to ask. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hmmm.... I guess I just don't like having things used against me that I don't remember ever asking for in the first place. I really dislike men using women's rights as a reason to treat women in crappy ways.
Just kind of wondered why people assume every last person is going to want the same things, just because they are stuck in a group.
Unions... some assume all agree with the unions or wanted one, just because their jobs basically make them join the union to have the job.
Am I making any sense here?
I don't want to be treated just like a man just because many women do and not all people like being in a union, even if they have one.
I think it kind of works that way for almost any group people try to assume everyone wants or needs exactly the same things.
I also never wanted all the equal rights to get a man's job and be more like men. I just want to be a mom and wife... I am more traditional, yet many throw women's rights at me as part of a debate or argument.
Black people... many assume all blacks are still fighting for, or wanting, more compensation for how things were a long time ago. Not all feel the same.

It just becomes aggravating and upsetting when people assume all want the same.
